Sara Ferrino Fund

Sara Ferrino was so much more than a resident at Bella Groves. She was a beloved mother, a caregiver to all creatures great and small, and a symbol of resilience and warmth. Sara had an undeniable love for nature, animals, and quiet moments in the sun—a trait that inspired many who had the privilege of knowing her. Her mistrust of strangers made gaining her trust a badge of honor for the care partners who supported her.
Sara’s daughter, April, embodied love and devotion, driving two hours each way from Georgetown, TX, to ensure her mother was always surrounded by family and care. Through her tireless commitment, Sara and her family became an integral part of the Bella Groves community in a truly inspiring way.
To honor the life and memory of Sara Ferrino, her family has established the Sara Ferrino Fund, a financial aid program that supports dedicated care partners who touch the lives of individuals every day.
Supporting Those Who Care

A Message from the Family
Sara Ferrino had the determination that many would characterize as true grit. She pushed through obstacles –mental and physical- and hid her declining memory from her family for many years very successfully. She was also generous, empathetic, and full of gratitude to her last moment on earth. All these qualities shown through stronger once she became a resident of Bella Groves. Staff would congregate in her room at bedtime for late night girl chats so she would not fall asleep alone. It must have felt like she still had her sisters around her.
Bella Groves was not the closest option when my husband and I were looking for a place for my mom to live; however, our inconvenience was not the priority. My mom’s comfort, safety, and peace of mind was paramount. In Bella Groves, we found a place where she would feel at home and surrounded by people that would think of her as one of their own.
Sara was from a large family and was a child of the Great Depression. Growing up she learned the values of budgeting and conservation that stayed with her throughout her lifetime. She passed on these values to her family. I learned that whatever resources I had could be stretched just a little further in a time of need. However, we recognize that unexpected everyday life expenses pop up for us all. It is for this reason my husband and I are creating a fund for Bella Groves staff that aims to ease the financial burden of unexpected or emergent expenses. Bella Groves staff looked after my mother and now our family can return the help.
