Sandra Travis was a devoted wife for 56 years, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a cherished resident of Bella Groves. In 2014, she was diagnosed with a rare brain condition that ultimately led to dementia.

From the beginning, it was clear to our family that we would eventually face the difficult decision of finding a place where she could spend her final time—somewhere she could call home, and where we would feel assured that she would receive compassionate, loving care. Bella Groves became Sandra’s home for her final six months, where she peacefully took her last breath.

During that time, we were fortunate to witness the most remarkable acts of kindness, compassion, patience, and care from every member of the Bella Groves caregiving team. It takes a special kind of person to care for someone who isn’t their own family and treat them as if they were. As Sandra’s family, we were deeply moved by this unwavering dedication and love, and it inspired us to create a fund in her honor—one that gives back to those who care for loved ones with such heart and commitment.
