THIS COULD BE YOUR STORY

How It Started
Kathy joined our team as a care partner in 2022. This was her first job in dementia care, and she quickly felt connected to the work of caring for others.
How It Grew:
Kathy was promoted to Lead Care Partner in 2023. She grew in her leadership skills and desire to serve her team by making everyone’s work more efficient, coordinated, and meaningful.

How It’s Going:
Kathy joined the management team as a Resident Care Coordinator in 2024. She has an active role in driving Bella Groves' strategy and initiatives.
Kathy Proffitt joined the Bella Groves team in November 2022 as a frontline care partner. Her career prior to this point spanned various industries from professional services, broadcasting, real estate, beverage and grocery retail. She found a deeper calling in senior care and says she plans to stay in this field, specifically at Bella Groves, until she retires. (Hopefully not anytime soon!)
Our mission at Bella Groves is to create a more joyful community for families affected by dementia, and that promise begins with a culture, a focus, and an atmosphere that fosters joy.
Happy team members = happy residents.

HOW MUCH WILL I GET PAID?
Great care begins with having great caregivers – but at the end of the day, pay matters. Our CEO started his senior living career in 2008 as a caregiver making $8 an hour – don’t worry, that won’t be your experience. Bella Groves offers our caregivers an average of $15+ an hour* to start, and the opportunities only grow from there.
*This average is calculated by taking into account appreciation bonuses, paid every six months to full-time employees.
We know that it takes more than a salary to gain employee loyalty. Personal and professional development, great staffing ratios, flexible schedule changes, and longevity “appreciation” bonuses are additional ways we strengthen and celebrate our caregivers. For those of you who have the skills, we want to see you grow in other areas.
Several of our team members go to school, earn professional certifications and degrees, and work toward other career-elevating milestones while working with us. We have also created new roles for team members who have demonstrated leadership qualities and greater value to the organization.
-
WHAT TRAINING WILL I RECEIVE?
We have all experienced the frustration of not receiving the tools we need to be successful in our jobs. At Bella Groves, all team members are immersed in a 13-week dementia training curriculum that we created ourselves. This unique learning experience is part of everyone’s onboarding and retention criteria. Each new team member meets directly with the Director of Dementia Programs & Education weekly and completes a capstone project that showcases their knowledge, skills, and gained insights.
Team members who “graduate” from this training can expect to receive ongoing learning support through our proprietary dementia methodology and curriculum, Go With The F.L.O.W.™. Ready to get started?

WHAT IS THE WORKLOAD LIKE?
The average resident-to-caregiver ratio at a memory care facility is 8:1 and can sometimes creep to 12:1 or 15:1 when short-staffed. On top of that, when caregivers leave (turnover), others have to pick up shifts or put in more work to get things running smoothly, leading to the physical, mental, and emotional burnout of employees. At Bella Groves, the resident to caregiver ratio is 4:1. We want to optimize the caregiver workload so you have time and resources to support our residents, their families, and our fellow team members.
In addition, we proudly partner with KARE, demonstrating our commitment to the well-being of our caregivers. Through KARE’s supportive services, our team members can take a necessary day off or join all-team meetings and celebrations,, knowing that their responsibilities will be diligently handled by KARE personnel. After all, life happens, and we’re here to support you in any way we can.
Ask most senior living companies and their goal is to reduce or completely eliminate any “agency” or non-employee support. At Bella Groves, we harness the power of supplementary support to arrive at the best outcomes for team members and residents alike.

HOW LONG DO PEOPLE STAY HERE?
For team members who complete our 13-week dementia curriculum, the average length of stay is over 1.5 years. Considering we’ve only been open for three years, that’s something we’re truly proud of! As a result, we’ve a wonderful mix of team members—some who have been with us from the very beginning, others who have been with us for about a year, and newer team members who have joined as our community has grown. Importantly, this growth reflects progress and opportunity, not turnover.
In dementia care, the acquired deep-knowing and profound relationships that are formed between residents and caregivers is SO IMPORTANT. As a result of our longer tenure (which is sure to grow the longer we’re open), our caregivers are hugely successful in:
- Anticipating resident needs
- Lowering prevalence of challenging behavioral expressions caused by dementia
- Lowering hospitalizations
- Maintaining or gaining healthy weight
- Having more restful and regular sleep
- Engaging in activities, outings, and joyful experiences
Our team is made up of miracle workers. Read some of our 5-star Google Reviews here.

HOW WILL I SPEND TIME WITH RESIDENTS?
At many communities, being a caregiver can feel like a list of never-ending tasks. At Bella Groves, your most important to-do item is getting to know the wonderful individuals and families we serve. Spending time with residents looks like moments of connection, moments of joy, moments of comfort. We’re here to support you so you have more moments of ‘I love my job.’
WE’RE REIMAGINING SENIOR LIVING
When employees are satisfied with their career and company, it reflects in their quality of work – or in this case, quality of care. We are reimagining what senior living jobs look like to set our employees up for success.
